John-Paul Ayrton is a 3rd-year PhD student at UCL, working at the Department for Biochemical Engineering and the London Centre for Nanotechnology (LCN). His research, conducted under the guidance of supervisors Michael Thomas and Steffani Frank, focuses on engineering small affinity molecules for nanoparticle functionalisation used in point-of-care diagnostics. With expertise in protein modification, mass transport kinetics, and molecular simulations, John-Paul works closely with his supervisors to develop innovative solutions for healthcare applications.
